ZINCIDONE

INCI: Zinc PCA

Description

Antibacterial seboregulator

Definition: Zinc salt of L-Pyrrolidone Carboxylic Acid (L-PCA), a physiological component of the epidermis, obtained by cyclization of glutamic acid.

Mode of action: Known for its inhibiting action of 5 α-reductase, zinc is a specific trace element for seboregulation. ZINCIDONE helps to regulate the activity of the sebaceous glands and to reduce the level of skin sebum in vivo. Its action on bacterial proliferation, notably on Propionibacterium acnes, helps to limit the resulting irritation.

ZINCIDONE at 1% reduces the cutaneous sebum rate by 22µg/cm2
