Evicide® EHG is a colorless and almost odorless liquid, which is composed of the well-known preservative booster Ethylhexylglycerin. The raw material serves a multitude of functions, most prominently it is used as a booster for preservation systems.

Many antimicrobial actives, such as Phenoxyethanol, organic acids or metal ions, must enter the cells of microorganisms in order to exhibit their preservative function. Here Evicide® EHG can help: The molecular structure of Ethylhexylglycerin enables it to disrupt the bacterial cell membrane and thereby improve the permeability of other antimicrobial actives. As such, Evicide® EHG can be employed in many different product concepts, for example emulsions, sun care products or surfactant based formulations like shampoos.

Closely related to this antimicrobial boosting function is the use of this raw material as a deodorant active.
